California State law requires shelters to hold stray animals for five days and owner relinquished pets for only two days. Shelters without philanthropic support may euthanize animals quickly that may be pregnant, less than 8 weeks of age, have mange, ringworm, colds, coughs, or broken legs simply because the length of recovery exceeds the legally mandated holding period.
The Community Animal Network, is also known as C.A.N. a non-profit
charity. Donated dollars
serve to rescue, treat, care for and maintain the veterinary health and welfare
of local animals needing to find new homes.
The organization also has "relief" programs to serve the public. These programs are designed to serve as a solution to common problems and save lives.
CAN does not have a kennel but works closely with our Adoption Affiliate in order to promote the placement and rescue of community pets. Your financial gifts and sponsorships will enable us to continue our work with local animals.
DiAnna Pfaff-Martin founded "The
Community Animal Network". In 1996 she began helping local people and
their pets in Newport Beach, California. Her many successes grew a following
