ARMY was found last August in downtown Long Beach: disoriented, frightened, shaking and in pain. From the planter he was hiding he softly chirped out at the cars rushing by and people moveing past him. Most people were busy and in no position to investigate a cat calling quietly for help.
Fortunately, this was no ordinary place of business. Army was hiding right in front of the Salvation Army offices, and it was not long before forces were gathered and a rescue volunteer was found to help out. Although out of immediate danger Army still had a problem.
Army's gums, mouth and throat were infected. His jaw and throat were swollen so badly he could not close his mouth and swallowing was very difficult for him. Being neither healthy nor young Army's chances of help looked slim. Who would care about saving the life of such a cat when there are so many younger, prettier cats who need help? Of course, rescue people value the life of each and every cat - no matter its background, age or appearance.

As with every situation, Army's is special, and it is a great reward to help him out because his love for people is so clear. He is nicknamed the "velcro cat," because he likes to attach himself across a person's chest and up to their shoulder and stay there. Every so often, he moves in close to snuggle into your neck, just to be sure that you know how happy he is. When he falls asleep, he lays across your arms and lap.
Army has already had some of his diseased teeth removed, but needs to have the remaining infected teeth removed. His appointment is for Monday, February 3rd, but Army needs your donation to make that happen.
Army also needs a permanent home and family to take care of him and love him. Taking this cat into your home will provide your home with countless blessings, so that the task of maintaining his health will seem unimportant. This is a very worthy cat, one you will remember for the rest of your life. If you are the kind of person who spends a lot of time at home and wants a close companion, Army is your guy!
